Erik, LA2US is back on Hopen Island EU-063 for a 6-month stint. QRV as JW2US when time permits.

I’ll be active on CW on/around IOTA frequencies or at the lower band edges. As before, this is a spare time operation, and I’ll be in the shack only as often as work and other tasks permit. I’m working odd hours so I’d rather not do any skeds.

My log will be uploaded to Club Log on a regular basis and if you don’t find your QSO there, please drop me an e-mail. I might be guilty of a typing errors. Log will also be uploaded to LoTW and eQSL.

On the 6th, 7th & 8th January 2017 DX8DX (TBC) will be QRV from the Calagua Islands IOTA OC-202, Calagua Islands Group.

Ranked #1 in Russia and #2 in Asia, this island was activated only once back in 1990. See detailed info on the expedition website

NEWS UPDATE – François F4HLT/FT3YL leaves Australia on 11th December on board the Astrolabe (French TAAF ship) and will go to the French Antartic base of Dumont D’Urville.

On Dumont D’Urville, his call-sign will be FT3YL. He won’t be QRV before February. He will be active in SSB and digital modes on 10-15 and 20 meters. Equipment: IC706 + ACOM 1010 (Tnx Clipperton Dx Club) + GPA30 (Tnx F5BU). He will provide updates here. QSL via F6KPQ, OQRS Club Log and LoTW.

Note: François is a newbie, he is not used to pilups. So please, be patient.

SEPTEMBER 13, 2016 – François, F4HLT will be active as FT3YL from Dumont d’Urville, Adelie Land in a few months time. The license is valid from December 2016 to February 2018. Activity will not occur immediately but likely few months after arrival. Adelie Land counts for IOTA AN-017.

I’m a beginner in HF radio but I want to try to install a ham radio station at Dumont d’Urville a French scientific base. My job is my priority, I can transmit only during my spare time. I’m not a DXpedition. This activity will be secondary to the scientific work. During this mission of 1 year in Antarctica, my QSL manager is F6KPQ.

FT3YL license

NEWS UPDATE – François F4HLT / FT3YL quitte l’Australie le 11 décembre à bord de l’Astrolabe (navire TAAF français) et se rendra à la base antarctique française de Dumont D’Urville.

Sur Dumont D’Urville, son indicatif d’appel sera FT3YL. Il ne sera pas QRV avant février. Il sera actif en mode SSB et numérique sur 10-15 et 20 mètres. The Chilean DXpedition Team announces its next DXpedition to Ascencion Island (IOTA SA-043 FE36dc)

The call will be XR7T. Likely dates will be in the period January 10 to 17 2017.

The main aim of the DXpedition will be to work the greatest possible number of unique calls, thus offering a possibility also to Little Pistols and QRP stations.

All bands will be activated on SSB and Digital operations. CW not available on this activation.

Utilisant l’indicatif XR7T. Les dates probables seront dans la période du 10 au 17 janvier 2017

NEWS UPDATE – Myanmar IOTA Dxpedition – further delay.

We have been in contact with the Myanmar government for 7 months. With the help of our in-country contacts, we have made much progress with our requests to visit the new XZ island groups. We already have agreement in principal for licences. Unfortunately, there is some instability in the country now and the military are busy with this. As a result we cannot yet get permission to visit the islands and so our Dxpedition is on hold. We will update the DX community when we eventually get clearance to visit these new IOTAs.

SEPTEMBER 21, 2016 – We herewith have to inform the IOTA community that our Myanmar/XZ IOTA-DXpedition to some new IOTAs has to be delayed.

There were elections in Myanmar in November 2015 and we had to resubmit all our documentation. The new administration has now been selected but they need time to have new rules established.

All domestic logistics are in place through our local Myanmar contact. He is also in weekly contact with 3 different ministerial departments and has indicated to us that the first weeks of February 2017 seems to be a good time slot for our DXpedition.

We cannot push harder. We must be patient. But we have every hope of activating new Myanmar IOTAs. Therefore, our intention is to plan the DXpedition for February 2017 subject to the Myanmar authorities finally giving us permission.

We will give additional information as it comes.

Nouvelles Mise à Jour – Myanmar IOTA DXpedition – plus de retard.

Nous avons été en contact avec le gouvernement du Myanmar pendant 7 mois. Avec l’aide de nos contacts dans le pays, nous Ont fait beaucoup de progrès avec nos demandes de visiter les nouveaux groupes d’îles XZ. Nous avons déjà un accord de principe pour les licences. Malheureusement, il ya une certaine instabilité dans le pays maintenant et les militaires sont occupés à cela. En conséquence, nous ne pouvons pas encore obtenir la permission de visiter les îles et donc notre Dxpedition est en attente. Nous mettrons à jour la communauté DX lorsque nous finirons par obtenir l’autorisation de visiter ces nouveaux IOTA.

21 septembre 2016 – Nous avons ci-joint pour informer la communauté IOTA que notre Myanmar / XZ IOTA-DXpedition certains nouveaux IOTAs doit être retardé.

Il y a eu des élections au Myanmar en novembre 2015 et nous avons dû renvoyer toute notre documentation. La nouvelle administration a maintenant été sélectionnée mais il faut du temps pour que de nouvelles règles soient établies.

Toute la logistique intérieure est en place à travers notre contact local Myanmar. Il est également en contact hebdomadaire avec 3 départements ministériels différents et nous a indiqué que les premières semaines de février 2017 semblent être un bon créneau horaire pour notre DXpedition.

Nous ne pouvons pas pousser plus fort. Nous devons être patients. Mais nous avons tous les espoirs d’activer de nouvelles IOTA au Myanmar. Par conséquent, notre intention est de planifier la DXpedition pour février 2017 sous réserve que les autorités du Myanmar nous donnent finalement la permission.

Nous donnerons des informations supplémentaires à mesure qu’il s’agit.

DX-World has learned that a major IOTA DXpedition to a brand new island group is being planned for mid-2017. Up to six operators will stage this activity with 3-4 days on air from the island. The group has been listed in every past and current edition of the IOTA Directory but never before activated….Stay tuned for more details in early 2017.
