After over 10 years of dreaming and 2 years of rigorous planning, we have turned a page. Our team is intact and ready. We have 17,000 pounds of equipment. It has been tested, sorted, inventoried and packed into our 40-foot sea container. We have discussed all conceivable contingencies, including rough seas, clouds and fog, high winds and emergencies at sea and on shore. We have studied propagation, maximized our location on the island, selected the best radio equipment, and have thought first and foremost of safety. All of this culminated when we sealed our sea container on October 9th , entered it into customs bond, placed it on a truck and watched it begin its journey to Punta Arenas, Chile. Our die has been cast. Now, a new chapter begins: one of reflection, waiting anxiously and hoping (praying) that all will go well from this point on.
We have been blessed by the worldwide support of individual amateur radio operators, clubs and foundations. They have backed us, overwhelmingly. We are inspired by the support we have received, both financially and in spirit. We want to live up to all that is expected of us on this “generational” DXpedition, which is likely the largest and most challenging DXpedition — ever. Indeed, there may never be another like it. We now have time to appreciate the responsibility that this project thrusts upon us. We feel it, and we will do our utmost to meet the DX world’s expectations from Bouvet – the number 2 “most wanted” entity.
You will start seeing band plans, more detailed propagation information, QSL information and more on our website. Our Facebook and Twitter social media outlets will keep their conversational tone, but shift their focus to how you can best work us, plus current events and news of interest. Our updated propagation forecasts continue to validate our predictions, as visualized on our website propagation page.
Our team now has a singular focal point, King George Island, where the next chapter begins. We will meet our ship there on January 13th, and sail 2,200 miles to Bouvet. By departing from King George Island rather than Punta Arenas, we save about 400 miles of sea travel. This essentially gives us one or two more days on the air from Bouvet. We will savor those days, because they will give us QSOs that otherwise would not have been made.
We have asked more from our team members than for any previous DXpedition. This includes their time, effort and money. We thank all of you who are helping to defray some of their costs. We continue to welcome new and additional support to help with these expenses.

Après plus de 10 ans de rêve et 2 ans de planification rigoureuse, nous avons tourné une page. Notre équipe est intacte et prête. Nous avons 17.000 livres d’équipement. Il a été testé, trié, inventoriés et emballé dans notre conteneur maritime de 40 pieds. Nous avons discuté de toutes les éventualités imaginables, y compris les mers rugueuses, les nuages et le brouillard, des vents violents et des situations d’urgence en mer et à terre. Nous avons étudié la propagation, maximisé notre emplacement sur l’île, a sélectionné les meilleurs équipements de radio, et ont pensé avant tout de la sécurité. Tout cela a culminé lorsque nous avons scellé notre conteneur maritime le 9 Octobre, est entré dans caution en douane, placé sur un camion et regardions entame son voyage à Punta Arenas, au Chili. Notre sort en est jeté. Maintenant, un nouveau chapitre commence: une réflexion, en attendant avec impatience et espoir (prier) que tout ira bien à partir de ce moment-là.
Nous avons été bénis par le soutien dans le monde entier des opérateurs radio amateurs individuels, les clubs et les fondations. Ils nous ont soutenu, une écrasante majorité. Nous sommes inspirés par le soutien que nous avons reçu, à la fois financièrement et en esprit. Nous voulons vivre jusqu’à ce qu’on attend de nous sur cette « génération » DXpedition, ce qui est probablement le plus grand et le plus difficile DXpedition – jamais. En effet, il ne peut jamais être une autre comme elle. Nous avons maintenant le temps d’apprécier la responsabilité que ce projet pousse sur nous. Nous pensons, et nous ferons de notre mieux pour répondre aux attentes du monde DX de Bouvet – le numéro 2 de l’entité « le plus recherché ».

Notre site sur Facebook et Twitter les médias sociaux conserveront leur ton de conversation, mais porter leur attention sur la façon dont vous pouvez mieux nous travailler, ainsi que l’actualité et des nouvelles d’intérêt. Notre équipe a maintenant un point focal singulier, île du Roi George, où le prochain chapitre commence. Nous rencontrerons notre bateau là-bas le 13 Janvier, et la voile 2.200 miles Bouvet. Nous avons demandé plus de nos membres de l’équipe que pour toute DXpedition précédente. Cela inclut leur temps, d’efforts et d’argent. Nous remercions tous ceux qui aident à défrayer une partie de leurs coûts. Nous continuons d’accueillir un nouveau support supplémentaire pour aider à ces dépenses.

OCTOBER 15 — Around 4200 QSOs are in the log so far. Yesterday were focusing on 15m band. During the night they were active on 80m band. Had some minor issues with antenna. Then moved to 20m in the morning, now some 17m activity. Plan to be ready on top-band next night and also be ready for RTTY. Locals are very friendly and helpful. Everything is OK, except some minor sun burns got during antenna set-up and also problems with water supply.
OCTOBER 15 – Environ 4200 QSO sont dans le journal jusqu’à présent. Hier se concentraient sur la bande de 15m. Pendant la nuit, ils étaient actifs sur la bande de 80m. On a eu quelques problèmes mineurs avec antenne. Puis déplacé à 20 m le matin, maintenant une activité de 17m. Prévoyez d’être prêt le soir suivant haut groupe et aussi être prêt à RTTY. Les habitants sont très sympathiques et serviables. Tout est OK, sauf quelques coups de soleil mineurs ont pendant l’antenne mise en place et aussi des problèmes d’approvisionnement en eau.

NEWS UPDATE – As posted on DX-World twitter page 4 days ago, all recent cluster spots for P5/3Z9DX are fake. Dom is not in North Korea, nor about to return.
Furthermore, Dom got in touch with DX-World to say recent info posted on ARRL website and ‘Daily DX’ is incorrect.
“I have not talked to ‘DX News’ or ‘Daily DX’ or any other DX source about my return trip to P5. All DX spots are fake and are made by local Polish guy who is not mentally well. If you worked P5/3Z9DX recently you worked a simple clown / pirate. There is still no more information for now from North Korean officials about my return visit.
In addition, at the moment, I’m concentrating on other projects for later this year and 2018.”

François, F4HLT will be active as FT3YL from Dumont d’Urville, Adelie Land in a few months time. The license is valid from December 2016 to February 2018. Activity will not occur immediately but likely few months after arrival.
I’m a beginner in HF radio but I want to try to install a ham radio station at Dumont d’Urville a French scientific base. My job is my priority, I can transmit only during my spare time. I’m not a DXpedition. This activity will be secondary to the scientific work. During this mission of 1 year in Antarctica, my QSL manager is F6KPQ.

UPDATE – Craig informs DX-World
I will continue to visit OC-228 Granite Island from Friday August 26 at 2300 UTC to Saturday, August 27 at 0800 UTC. (Saturday local time). I am also looking to visit a day earlier on Friday, August 26 at 0430 UTC to 0800 UTC. This is because weather on Friday afternoon local time looks good and I will be taking time off work to try and give out more QSOs on 20m. I am not permitted to build a tent or shelter on the island and so I’m exposed to the weather on a rock wall with no protection from rain. Details at http://oc228.blogspot.com.
