Pedro EA5GL informs DX-World readers about upcoming EP2C activity.
« We will try to start before midday on 8th Feb and end late evening of 10th Feb. We have 2 transceivers, one for phone and one for CW. We have a dipole for 40m. Another dipole for 15m and a 2 element yagi for 20m . (All home made). We are on 20m and 40 meter normally but we will try also 15m from 1200 to 1500. I will be online on twitter (@ep2lma) and let everybody know about the bands and frequency.
We are the only radio club in Iran and we really need the help and donation of small clubs and big places and DX foundations or anywhere else who want to help. With your help we can be on the air everyday and every weekend and we know many ham operators need to have QSO with Iran and we can make it for them.

Christmas Ham – A new Ham on Christmas Island
I’m Cliff and newly licensed, and as soon as my gear gets to the island, I will be developing my non-existent DX skills.
Unfortunately, I couldn’t meet up with any Amateurs for courses or to learn the ropes (none on the island), so I just did the study thing. I decided that the Foundation license would be too limiting for a remote area, so I went straight to the Standard license (100W).
I have purchased a FT DX1200 which is still 6,000kms away.
Still working out the QSL thing, international mail from here is $2.90 AUD and mail can take a while. Updates on my progress to get online can be found at vk9vkl.island.cx

L’île de Noël – Un nouveau Radioamateur sur l’île de Noël
Je suis Cliff et nouvellement licencié, et dès que mon équipement arrive sur l’île, je vais développer mes compétences inexistantes DX.
Malheureusement, je n’ai pas pu rencontrer d’amateurs pour les cours ou pour apprendre les cordes (aucun sur l’île), donc je viens de faire la chose étude. J’ai décidé que la licence de la Fondation serait trop limitante pour une région éloignée, alors je suis allé directement à la licence Standard (100W).
J’ai acheté un FT DX1200 qui est encore à 6,000kms de loin.
Toujours en train de régler la question QSL, le courrier international d’ici est de 2,90 AUD et le courrier peut prendre un certain temps. Des mises à jour sur mes progrès pour obtenir en ligne peuvent être trouvées à vk9vkl.island.cx

NEWS UPDATE – Everything is okay. The team is very grateful for the great sponsoring from the ham community. The antenna material stored in Auckland is loaded into a shipcontainer. The cargo ship “Claymore II” departs New Zealand on January 31, 2017. We will board in Mangareva, French Polynesia, on February 14, 2017 to continue to Pitcairn. All our equipment is successfully checked and the suitcases are packed. Altogether we have 250kg radio equipment! The team members are in good spirits and looking optimistically forward to a successful DXpedition.
November 19, 2016 – Preparation video by PA3EWP for VP6EU DXpedition:
September 27, 2016 – From 16 February until 5 March 2017, a European team consisting of Uwe DJ9HX, Erno DK2AMM, Hans DL6JGN and Ronald PA3EWP will be active for 18 days from Pitcairn as VP6EU.
They will operate from 160-10m in CW, SSB and RTTY. (no permission to operate on 60 meters). They will try to operate with 2 stations around the clock. Equipment will be 2 x Elecraft K3, Expert 1.3 and a homemade 600 watt amplifier. Antennas will be a Spiderbeam or Hexbeam for 10-20 meter and verticals for the other bands. For 80/160 they will use a K9AY and/or beverage antennas. They will stay at hilltop location on island.

Ils fonctionneront de 160-10m en CW, SSB et RTTY. (Pas d’autorisation d’exploitation sur 60 mètres). Ils vont essayer de fonctionner avec 2 stations autour de l’horloge. Pista HA5AO will return to Lesotho for humanitarian purposes 10 Feb – 26 Feb 2017.
He will operate mostly CW, 10 – 40 meters during his free time using the call sign 7P8EUDXF. He will be overseeing the project at a local orphanage that he started during his October, 2016 visit and will deliver donations received since then. Logsearch and OQRS is available on ha5ao.com Please use OQRS for all confirmation requests, do not send cards via the bureau.
For the October, 2016 operation – all OQRS direct and mail direct QSL requests were posted from Budapest on 23 January, 2017, bureau cards were forwarded to the HA bureau. LoTW was uploaded 28 December, 2016.
Money donated to 7P8EUDXF will be used only for humanitarian purposes. The results of Pista’s 2010 activity can be seen at:
