The entire FT4JA team is now safely back in Mayotte after 2 days at sea. Just a bit more than 2 weeks ago we were arriving on Juan de Nova. A French island in the middle of the Mozambique Channel. It took us 36hrs to set-up our camp: shelters, generators, antennas, stations. We started our operations in the afternoon of March 30th. Immediately, all stations were on the air and the pileups were big, as expected!
As planned, we did not waste one minute and we started following the propagation plan to give everyone a chance. Orienting the pileup by area was not too difficult and almost everyone was collaborating, understanding the propagation rules.
With only 10 ops to manage radios and the life at the camp, we achieved to keep a 10,000 QSOs per day rate! We did not sleep much ! [read full report]

L’équipe de FT4JA entière est maintenant de retour en toute sécurité à Mayotte après 2 jours en mer. Juste un peu il y a plus de 2 semaines, nous sommes arrivés sur Juan de Nova. Une île française au milieu du canal du Mozambique. Il nous a fallu 36h pour mettre en place notre camp: abris, des générateurs, des antennes, des stations. Nous avons commencé nos opérations dans l’après-midi du 30 Mars. Immédiatement, toutes les stations étaient sur l’air et les carambolages étaient grandes, comme prévu
Comme prévu, nous ne gaspillons une minute et nous avons commencé à suivre le plan de propagation pour donner une chance à tous. Orienter le carambolage par zone n’a pas été trop difficile et presque tout le monde collabore, la compréhension des règles de propagation.
Avec seulement 10 ops pour gérer les radios et la vie au camp, nous avons obtenu de garder 10.000 QSOs par taux de jour! On n’a pas dormi beaucoup! [read full report]

KK7L and N7SMI will activate Tuvalu as T2R between September 27 – October 4, 2016.
A primary focus of their DXpedition will be to provide training and equipment with intentions to establish a permanent and active Tuvalu Amateur Radio Club and emergency communications station. There are several licensed amateurs in Tuvalu. With the cooperation of the telecommunications authority, they will provide training and supplement on-island HF equipment to get a fully functional club station on the air. T2R will be the inaugural activation of this station. Donations will go directly to supporting Tuvaluan amateurs getting on the air.

April 8, 2016 — Interested reader, Radi F6GNZ, recently contacted DX-World saying he had asked Rafael YV5RED, Founder Member of the 4M5DX GROUP if there were any ongoing plans for the next Aves Island DXpedition. Below we show the reply.
It is very difficult because there are many legal & official permissions needed to do it: Venezuelan Army, CONATEL, MINEA, MRE. Furthermore, “RCV-ARV” plans to do it, but without permissions from official authorities it will be an illegal operation.

Avril 8, 2016 — Le lecteur intéressé, Radi F6GNZ, a récemment contacté DX-World en disant qu’il avait demandé à Rafael YV5RED, membre fondateur du GROUPE 4M5DX s’il y avait des plans en cours pour la prochaine DXpedition île Aves. Ci-dessous, nous montrons la réponse.
Il est très difficile car il y a beaucoup d’autorisations officielles juridiques nécessaires pour le faire: Venezuela armée, CONATEL, MINEA, EMR. En outre, ‘RCV-ARV’ prévoit de le faire, mais sans les autorisations des autorités officielles, il sera une opération illégale.
