April 7 @ 1900Z – Good propagation is back again on high bands, and that is of course excellent news ! We are keeping as many stations on air on the opened bands, staying until they close. We had excellent runs with NA west coast on different bands; we will continue to focus on difficult areas.

Unfortunately, we will have to work on the dismantelling plan to match with the necessary high tide. Depending on the high wind these days this might makes things difficult for loading/unloading things with the zodiac – we’ll keep fingers crossed…We plan to leave the island next Monday. More info with the remaining antennas day by day soon.

Operators are tired by the long radio shifts and high temperature but are all still giving their best to put everyone in the log. We really appreciate the cooperation of everyone when we ask to QRX to give a chance to a special area.

The next weekend we will concentrate on the band/modes with the most QSOs in the log to give all a last opportunity for an ATNO.

NOUVELLES MISE À JOUR

7 avril @ 1900Z – Bonne propagation est de retour sur les bandes hautes, et qui est bien sûr d’excellentes nouvelles! Nous gardons autant de stations sur l’air sur les bandes ouvertes, en restant jusqu’à ce qu’ils ferment. Nous avons eu d’excellentes pistes avec NA côte ouest sur différentes bandes; nous allons continuer à se concentrer sur les zones difficiles.

Malheureusement, nous allons devoir travailler sur le plan de dismantelling pour correspondre avec la marée haute nécessaire. Selon le grand vent ces jours pourrait rend les choses difficiles pour les choses de chargement / déchargement avec le zodiaque – nous gardons les doigts croisés … Nous prévoyons de quitter l’île lundi prochain. Plus d’infos avec les antennes restantes de jour en jour bientôt.

Les opérateurs sont fatigués par les déplacements de radio longues et haute température, mais sont tous encore donner de leur mieux pour mettre tout le monde dans le journal. Nous apprécions la coopération de tout le monde quand nous demandons à QRX de donner une chance à une zone spéciale.

Le week-end prochain, nous allons nous concentrer sur la bande / modes avec le plus QSOs dans le journal pour donner à tous une dernière occasion pour un ATNO.

August 19, 2015 – Due to forecast high winds this coming weekend, the GS8VL team have decided to cancel their expedition as landing on the island is difficult in rough seas. A new activation date will be announced later.

6 août 2015 – Les membres du groupe GMDX GM0GAV, GM0LVI, GM4ZNC et MM0GNS fonctionnera comme GS8VL / P de la Shiant Islands EU-112 en 21 au 23 août 2015.

NEWS UPDATE – Days after day the situation is different. Last night propagation was not as usual ! High bands closed very early with no conditions on 17 & 20m right after our sunset.

Our hard work on low bands RX antennas has finally paid. Many QSO were achieved on 80 and 160m with all parts of the world, OC/JA, then EU and finally SA/NA including West Coast. We’ll do the same next night.

During daytime we are focused on the high bands. The daily runs on 15m are providing a lot of unique callsigns, and we’ll keep a station on that band till the end of the operation.

Life at the camp is going well. All operators are very tired due to extreme heat and sleep deprivation but still very motivated. We have extremely heavy rain since a couple of hours, as well as high winds. Up to now, all the equipment is ok and nothing has been damaged. Let’s hope the situation will improve quickly as our camp is not equiped to face such storms. As soon as possible we’ll call our skipper to ask for weather predictions. We’ll keep you updated about that point.

We are trying to upload the log at least twice a day. Do not hesitate to check it on ClubLog and help us to prevent useless dupes !

NOUVELLES MISE À JOUR

Jours après jour, la situation est différente. propagation nuit dernière n’a pas été, comme d’habitude! bandes hautes fermées très tôt sans conditions sur 17

Notre travail sur les bandes basses antennes RX a finalement payé. Beaucoup QSO ont été atteints sur 80 et 160m avec toutes les parties du monde, OC / JA, puis l’UE et enfin SA / NA, y compris la côte Ouest. Nous ferons la même chose la nuit suivante.
Pendant la journée, nous nous concentrons sur les bandes hautes. Les courses quotidiennes sur 15m fournissent beaucoup d’callsigns uniques, et nous allons garder une station sur la bande jusqu’à la fin de l’opération.

La vie au camp va bien. Tous les opérateurs sont très fatigués à cause de la chaleur extrême et la privation de sommeil, mais toujours très motivé. Nous avons la pluie extrêmement lourd depuis quelques heures, ainsi que des vents violents. Jusqu’à présent, tout le matériel est ok et que rien n’a été endommagé. Espérons que la situation permettra d’améliorer rapidement notre camp est pas équipé pour faire face à de telles tempêtes. Dès que possible, nous allons appeler notre skipper pour demander des prévisions météo. Nous vous tiendrons au courant à propos de ce point.

Nous essayons de télécharger le journal au moins deux fois par jour. Ne pas hésiter à vérifier sur ClubLog et nous aider à éviter des dupes inutiles!

NEWS UPDATE – The St. Paul DXpedition team has decided to setup two sites. One site will be on the Northeast point, a separate island where the lighthouse is located; the second site is the more traditional site for DXpeditions known as Atlantic Cove. The distance between sites will assure our goal to operate two stations simultaneously on the same band. Many times there will be a CW /RTTY and SSB operating on the same band.

– L’équipe de St. Paul DXpedition a décidé d’installer deux sites. Un site sera sur le point nord-est, une île séparée où le phare se trouve; le deuxième site est le site plus traditionnel pour DXpeditions connu comme Atlantic Cove. La distance entre les sites assurera notre objectif d’exploiter deux stations simultanément sur la même bande. Plusieurs fois, il y aura une CW / RTTY et SSB fonctionnant sur la même bande.

I am taking part in a United Nations mission in Haiti. I landed November 17th 2015 and will be operating portable until November 17th 2016. I am stationed in Port Au Prince but will be in other parts of the country as well. Thus far there has been a keen interest in my HF activity logging over 2,000 QSO since January. This is when I received my authorization to operate from the Haitian Government.

NEWS UPDATE – All is going pretty well. We reached 50K QSO last night and we continue to run the pile-ups that are at certain time of the day really big. We try to exploit the bands from their opening till the end of the propagation. This allow us to work all continents from East to West and log many unique callsigns.

We have to report a lot of dupes in the log, despite the online-log that is available on Club Log. We ask you not to call again until the log is online in order to give a chance to other stations.

Last night was very noisy on low bands and even with RX antennas we met difficulties to pick up calls. We’ll keep our efforts every night up to the end of the operation.

Weather is still good but heat is terrible in absence of wind. In the shelters we are well over the 50° celcius during many hours of the day. This makes the operation complicated and we are taking regular short breaks to fresh-up a bit.

To conclude we remind everyone that operator’s instructions have a real importance! Fighting during 5 minutes to keep the pile-up QRX is a waste of energy and we would really appreciate a better cooperation.

NOUVELLES MISE À JOUR

– Tout va assez bien. Nous sommes arrivés à 50K QSO hier soir et nous continuons à exécuter les carambolages qui sont à un certain moment de la journée vraiment grand. Nous essayons d’exploiter les bandes de leur ouverture jusqu’à la fin de la propagation. Cela nous permet de travailler tous les continents de l’Est à l’Ouest et enregistrons de nombreux callsigns uniques.

Nous devons signaler beaucoup de dupes dans le journal, en dépit de la ligne-journal qui est disponible sur Club Log. Nous vous demandons de ne pas appeler à nouveau jusqu’à ce que le journal est en ligne afin de donner une chance d’autre soir stations.
Last était très bruyant sur les bandes basses et même avec des antennes RX, nous avons rencontré des difficultés à prendre les appels. Nous allons continuer nos efforts tous les soirs jusqu’à la fin de la operation.
Weather est toujours bonne, mais la chaleur est terrible absence de vent. Dans les abris, nous sommes bien au-delà de 50 ° celcius pendant de nombreuses heures de la journée. Cela rend l’opération compliquée et nous prenons de courtes pauses régulières fraîchement un bit.To nous venons de rappeler à tous que les instructions de l’opérateur ont une réelle importance! Combattre pendant 5 minutes pour garder le QRX de pile-up
est un gaspillage d’énergie et nous vraiment apprécier une meilleure cooperation.See vous sur l’air si vous n’avez pas fait le contact encore!
