NEWS UPDATE — 3D2AG reports now back in Fiji after 2 days on the boat from Rotuma having left on the 28th of April. The last day of operation was on 27th of April UTC. Many thanks to all that made it contacting us on the island. There was very good propagation to Europe and USA/Japan on 20m and 17m and even 15/10m but the low bands 160m and 80m were challenging with poor conditions.

For various logistical reasons the 80m/160m 15m high vertical loop antenna could only be hoisted on a suitable coconut tree towards the end of the operation but static levels were very high and only a few contacts were made. The 60m propagation was poor and hampered by nightly OTH radar QRM but some contacts with Europe and USA were made on CW and JT65. Nothing was heard on 6m from either USA or JA. More statistics will be posted later. Congratulations to those in the log; QSL via PayPal; suggested $4 for DXpedition contacts and donations are most welcome!

Look for us again soon on 6m, HF and 60m/80m from Fiji! We are looking for a 2m linear to activate EME from Fiji and Rotuma.

MARCH 6, 2017 – The next Rotuma Island (3D2AG/p) DXpedition looks likely April 2-22, 2017 (depending on boat schedules). More news will be posted on Antoine’s QRZ page! Coverage will be 160 to 6m, including 60m (5 MHz). There will be NO internet while on the island.

DES NOUVELLES MISE À JOUR – 3D2AG rapporte maintenant à Fidji après 2 jours sur le bateau de Rotuma qui est parti le 28 avril. Le dernier jour d’opération était le 27 avril UTC. Un grand merci à tout ce qui nous a permis de nous contacter sur l’île. Il y a eu une très bonne propagation vers l’Europe et les USA / Japon à 20m et 17m et même 15 / 10m mais les bas de 160m et 80m ont été difficiles avec de mauvaises conditions.

Pour diverses raisons logistiques, l’antenne rectangulaire verticale de 80m / 160m de 15m ne peut être hissée que sur un cocotier approprié vers la fin de l’opération, mais les niveaux statiques étaient très élevés et seuls quelques contacts ont été réalisés. La propagation de 60 m était médiocre et gênée par le radar kilométrique OTH, mais certains contacts avec l’Europe et les États-Unis étaient réalisés sur CW et JT65. Rien n’a été entendu à 6 m des États-Unis ou de la JA. Plus de statistiques seront affichées plus tard.
