VU2UR Manohar Arasu (82 yrs old) was a Life member of Amateur Radio Society of India (ARSI) and was the Frequency Monitor for several years filing intrusion reports with
the IARU-R3 representing ARSI. He was a well known Amateur radio enthusiast with around 46 years of experience (has been on the air since 1967). VU2UR has won many certificates
for being No 1 in India and some for being No 1 in the continent. All in all, he has won more then 1200 certificates and plaques included and recognition from organizations across the
globe.

VU2UR did join the 3^rd WAP Antarctic Activity Week (2006) with his special callsign AT3ANT WAP-Ø21. We keep a great recall of
him.

Retired from the Indian Railways in 1997, VU2UR had settled down in the outskirts of Bangalore City, in Kengeri Satellite Town.

WAP express sincere condolences to his family to bear this loss and bring them comfort. May our prayers ease the pain and his soul
rest in peace.

VU2UR Manohar Arasu (82 ans) était membre à vie de l’Amateur Radio Society of India (ARSI) et a été le contrôleur de fréquence pendant plusieurs années en déposant des rapports d’intrusion avec
l’IARU-R3 représentant l’ARSI. Il était un passionné de radio amateur bien connu avec environ 46 ans d’expérience (il est à l’antenne depuis 1967). VU2UR a remporté de nombreux certificats
pour être n ° 1 en Inde et certains pour être n ° 1 sur le continent. Au total, il a remporté plus de 1200 certificats et plaques inclus et la reconnaissance d’organisations à travers le
globe.

VU2UR a rejoint le 3^rd Semaine d’activités WAP Antarctique (2006) avec son indicatif spécial AT3ANT WAP-Ø21 . Nous gardons un excellent souvenir de
lui.

Retraité des chemins de fer indiens en 1997, VU2UR s’était installé dans la banlieue de Bangalore City, à Kengeri Satellite Town.

WAP présente ses sincères condoléances à sa famille pour qu’elle supporte cette perte et leur apporte du réconfort. Que nos prières soulagent la douleur et son âme
repose en paix.

continue d’être le centre de leur vie pour beaucoup.
Les années passent, et malgré l’arrivée de nouveaux modes, notre CW continue d’être un argument même pour les grandes expéditions, on ne peut qu’espérer et lutter pour que cela ne se fasse
pas au détriment.

The Atmospheric Research Observatory (ARO) at the Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station (WAP USA-21) is a National Science Foundation (NSF) facility located near the geographic South Pole. The NSF has allocated ARO to a long-term research program conducted by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Global Monitoring Division (NOAA/OAR/ESRL/GMD).

ARO is located approximately four hundred meters grid east-northeast of the main station, physically separated and on the edge of a designated area called the Clean Air Sector. Due to local meteorology, winds at South Pole are very consistent, hence the designation of the Clean Air Sector. By positioning on the edge of this sector, ARO remains upwind of the local pollution inherent around the daily industrial operations of Amundsen-Scott Station. This clean upwind air is representative of the true mixed background atmosphere over Antarctica, and by sampling this air, ARO can establish an accurate long-term climate record of the continent. The mission of ARO is to measure long-term trends of important trace gases, aerosols, and solar radiation and to investigate the influence of these gases and aerosols on the Earth’s climate.

L ‘ Observatoire de recherche atmosphérique (ARO) de la station Amundsen-Scott South Pole (WAP USA-21) est une National Science Foundation (NSF)
installation située à proximité du pôle sud géographique. La NSF a alloué ARO à un programme de recherche à long terme mené par le Global Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
Division de la surveillance (NOAA/OAR/ESRL/GMD).

ARO est situé à environ quatre cents mètres de quadrillage à l’est-nord-est de la gare principale, physiquement séparé et en bordure d’une zone désignée appelée le secteur de l’air pur. À cause de
météorologie locale, les vents au pôle Sud sont très cohérents, d’où la désignation du secteur de l’air pur. En se positionnant en bordure de ce secteur, ARO reste au près de la pollution locale
inhérente aux opérations industrielles quotidiennes de la gare Amundsen-Scott. Cet air propre au vent est représentatif de la véritable atmosphère de fond mixte au-dessus de l’Antarctique, et par échantillonnage
cet air, ARO peut établir un bilan climatique précis à long terme du continent. La mission de l’ARO est de mesurer les tendances à long terme d’importants gaz traces, aérosols et rayonnement solaire.
et d’étudier l’influence de ces gaz et aérosols sur le climat de la Terre.

EM25VER, issued to celebrate the 25^th Anniversary of the Ukrainian Research Station Akademik Vernadsky (WAP UKR-Ø1) in Antarctica.

Last February 2021, on the day of the 25^th Anniversary of Akademik Vernadsky Station, Ukrainian polar explorers received State Awards from the
President Volodymyr Zelensky, who awarded State decorations to those who made a significant contribution to the development of polar research in Ukraine.
In particular, to all the participants of the Ukrainian Antarctic expeditions, who have been conducting year-round research at Akademik Vernadsky Station for 6 years or more.

The award ceremony took place at the President’s Office, last February 6, 2021, on the day of the 25^th Anniversary of Akademik Vernadsky Station (WAP UKR-Ø1).

«Every great story means, first of all, the people who made it possible. I would like to thank the representatives of the Ukrainian polar community present here, as well as everyone who worked at Akademik Vernadsky Station in different years.

I believe and am convinced that the history of Vernadsky, the history of “Ukrainian Antarctica” will continue and will be successful. I thank our male and female polar explorers for their work, contribution to science and strengthening the authority of Ukraine», Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized.

La cérémonie de remise des prix a eu lieu au Cabinet du Président, le 6 février 2021, le jour de la 25^th Anniversaire de la gare Akademik Vernadsky (WAP UKR-Ø1).

«Toute grande histoire signifie, avant tout, les personnes qui l’ont rendue possible. Je tiens à remercier les représentants de la communauté polaire ukrainienne présents ici, ainsi que tout le monde
qui a travaillé à la gare Akademik Vernadsky à différentes années.

Je crois et je suis convaincu que l’histoire de Vernadsky, l’histoire de l ’« Antarctique ukrainien »se poursuivra et sera couronnée de succès. Je remercie nos hommes et nos femmes polaires
