Mise à Jour de VE3LYC.. “It is almost 14 UTC (July 30) and I will be shortly starting my trip to the NW corner of Alaska. I will drive from home to Syracuse, NY, from where I will fly to Chicago, then Anchorage, and finally to Barrow, where I am scheduled to arrive tomorrow (July 31) around 19 UTC.
After the testing carried out with the multiband verticals last weekend, George (VE3GHK) generously offered to put the necessary time in order to bring the antennas to their original design. He was successful and the antennas and back within their original parameters. Nevertheless, I am taking the 20 m monoband vertical with me too.

Mise à Jour de VE3LYC. Il est presque 14 UTC (30 Juillet) et je vais commencer peu de temps mon voyage à l’angle nord-ouest de l’Alaska. Je vais conduire de la maison à Syracuse, État de New York, où je vais voler à Chicago, puis Anchorage, et enfin à Barrow, où je suis programmé pour arriver demain (31 Juillet) autour de 19 UTC.
Après les essais effectués avec les verticales multibandes week-end dernier, George (VE3GHK) a généreusement offert de mettre le temps nécessaire pour amener les antennes à leur conception originale. Il a réussi et les antennes et à l’arrière dans leurs paramètres d’origine. Néanmoins, je prends la 20 m monobande vertical avec moi aussi.
Je voudrais remercier beaucoup à tous ceux qui ont appuyé ce projet. Bien obligé à tout le monde, y compris ceux qui n’a pas besoin NA-172 pour un nouveau IOTA, comme Luis (CT4HN), Johan (PA3EXX), Ken (W1NG), Tony (W4FOA), mais je voulais faire partie de cette aventure Site Internet ICI

UPDATE: Per message received from Yuri R2DG via the satellite phone the team is facing big issues with the electricity. They lost one transceiver because of that and have to QRT for some time. Eugune UA6EX is back (by boat) to the Chersky village which is 100km apart from island. He is looking for another generator. Let’s hope that the weather conditions will be ok and he will be back soon with the new generator. Due to time limitation team members are asking to not dupe QSOs on different modes and to limit just one QSO with the entire team. 73, UA3AKO (expedition pilot )

UPDATE by VE3LYC.. “With only a few days left before heading up north, I spent the weekend checking all the equipment. After returning from the Antipodes Is. (ZL9A) in mid-January, I worked to alter the design of how the radials of the multi-band wire verticals were connected to the feeder line, in order improve the robustness of the overall antenna construction. The result is a definite improvement in the strength on the antenna wires. Unfortunately, this led, however, to a slight increase of the SWR, particularly on 20 m. As such, I spent time on Saturday to improve it, with mostly positive results. I have also checked the propagation forecast with various regions of the world, which allowed me to conclude firmly that the 20 and 30 m will be the bands of interest for this expedition. (ZL9A) à la mi-Janvier, je travaille à modifier la conception de la façon dont les radiales des verticales de fil multi-bandes ont été connectés à la ligne d’alimentation, afin d’améliorer la robustesse de la construction globale de l’antenne. Il en résulte une nette amélioration de la résistance sur les fils d’antenne. Malheureusement, cela a conduit cependant à une légère augmentation de la SWR, en particulier sur 20 m.
