A Russian Robinson team consisting R7AL, RA1ZZ, RW5D and RK8A will ne active from the very rare Iony Island AS-069 as RI0C during second half of July 2017.

Ranked #1 in Russia and #2 in Asia, this island was activated only once back in 1990. See detailed info on the expedition website

NEWS UPDATE – François F4HLT/FT3YL leaves Australia on 11th December on board the Astrolabe (French TAAF ship) and will go to the French Antartic base of Dumont D’Urville.

On Dumont D’Urville, his call-sign will be FT3YL. He won’t be QRV before February. He will be active in SSB and digital modes on 10-15 and 20 meters. Equipment: IC706 + ACOM 1010 (Tnx Clipperton Dx Club) + GPA30 (Tnx F5BU). He will provide updates here. QSL via F6KPQ, OQRS Club Log and LoTW.

Note: François is a newbie, he is not used to pilups. So please, be patient.

SEPTEMBER 13, 2016 – François, F4HLT will be active as FT3YL from Dumont d’Urville, Adelie Land in a few months time. The license is valid from December 2016 to February 2018. Activity will not occur immediately but likely few months after arrival. Adelie Land counts for IOTA AN-017.

I’m a beginner in HF radio but I want to try to install a ham radio station at Dumont d’Urville a French scientific base. My job is my priority, I can transmit only during my spare time. I’m not a DXpedition. This activity will be secondary to the scientific work. During this mission of 1 year in Antarctica, my QSL manager is F6KPQ.

FT3YL license

NEWS UPDATE – François F4HLT / FT3YL quitte l’Australie le 11 décembre à bord de l’Astrolabe (navire TAAF français) et se rendra à la base antarctique française de Dumont D’Urville.

The Chilean DXpedition Team announces its next DXpedition to Ascencion Island (IOTA SA-043 FE36dc)

The call will be XR7T. Likely dates will be in the period January 10 to 17 2017.

The main aim of the DXpedition will be to work the greatest possible number of unique calls, thus offering a possibility also to Little Pistols and QRP stations.

All bands will be activated on SSB and Digital operations. CW not available on this activation.

Utilisant l’indicatif XR7T. Les dates probables seront dans la période du 10 au 17 janvier 2017

NEWS UPDATE – Myanmar IOTA Dxpedition – further delay.

We have been in contact with the Myanmar government for 7 months. With the help of our in-country contacts, we have made much progress with our requests to visit the new XZ island groups. We already have agreement in principal for licences. Unfortunately, there is some instability in the country now and the military are busy with this. As a result we cannot yet get permission to visit the islands and so our Dxpedition is on hold. We will update the DX community when we eventually get clearance to visit these new IOTAs.

SEPTEMBER 21, 2016 – We herewith have to inform the IOTA community that our Myanmar/XZ IOTA-DXpedition to some new IOTAs has to be delayed.

There were elections in Myanmar in November 2015 and we had to resubmit all our documentation. The new administration has now been selected but they need time to have new rules established.

All domestic logistics are in place through our local Myanmar contact. He is also in weekly contact with 3 different ministerial departments and has indicated to us that the first weeks of February 2017 seems to be a good time slot for our DXpedition.

We cannot push harder. We must be patient. But we have every hope of activating new Myanmar IOTAs. Therefore, our intention is to plan the DXpedition for February 2017 subject to the Myanmar authorities finally giving us permission.

We will give additional information as it comes.

Nouvelles Mise à Jour – Myanmar IOTA DXpedition – plus de retard.

Nous avons été en contact avec le gouvernement du Myanmar pendant 7 mois. Avec l’aide de nos contacts dans le pays, nous Ont fait beaucoup de progrès avec nos demandes de visiter les nouveaux groupes d’îles XZ. Nous avons déjà un accord de principe pour les licences. Malheureusement, il ya une certaine instabilité dans le pays maintenant et les militaires sont occupés à cela. En conséquence, nous ne pouvons pas encore obtenir la permission de visiter les îles et donc notre Dxpedition est en attente. Nous mettrons à jour la communauté DX lorsque nous finirons par obtenir l’autorisation de visiter ces nouveaux IOTA.

21 septembre 2016 – Nous avons ci-joint pour informer la communauté IOTA que notre Myanmar / XZ IOTA-DXpedition certains nouveaux IOTAs doit être retardé.

Il y a eu des élections au Myanmar en novembre 2015 et nous avons dû renvoyer toute notre documentation. La nouvelle administration a maintenant été sélectionnée mais il faut du temps pour que de nouvelles règles soient établies.

Toute la logistique intérieure est en place à travers notre contact local Myanmar. Il est également en contact hebdomadaire avec 3 départements ministériels différents et nous a indiqué que les premières semaines de février 2017 semblent être un bon créneau horaire pour notre DXpedition.

Nous ne pouvons pas pousser plus fort. Nous devons être patients. Mais nous avons tous les espoirs d’activer de nouvelles IOTA au Myanmar. Par conséquent, notre intention est de planifier la DXpedition pour février 2017 sous réserve que les autorités du Myanmar nous donnent finalement la permission.

Nous donnerons des informations supplémentaires à mesure qu’il s’agit.

DX-World has learned that a major IOTA DXpedition to a brand new island group is being planned for mid-2017. Up to six operators will stage this activity with 3-4 days on air from the island. The group has been listed in every past and current edition of the IOTA Directory but never before activated….Stay tuned for more details in early 2017.

UPDATE – Now QRV from Tidra Island..and an update by Jean, 5T0JL:

I had the immense pleasure of giving the road departure to the island of TIDRA to our friends 5T2AI (9K2AI) / Ahmad and UA4HWX / SU9VB / 5T9VB / Wladimir on morning 01 December 2016 towards 1000Z.

Tidra will be of interest to all IOTA hunters and is also an old story for me as it makes years we speculated ON5GA / Adriano, myself and the Radio Club of Europe to mount a DXPed on the islands as they are a few in the past never or rarely activated. The time passing-by and the physical form have somewhat impeded our momentum.

It was then that Wlodek / SP6EQZ was also thinking about it in January 2014, also in March 2015. Our old friend Phil / G3SWH of 5T0CW also spoke of Tidra in April 2015 and also my presentation at the whole new guy in town 5T2AI / Ahmad who found the project interesting in competition with an expedition to the The Eye of Africa still in 5T (All this confirmed by the many emails in my possession).

Then I do not remember which way Ahmad introduced me Wladimir / SU9VB which in turn seemed to show an interest in the Banc d’Arguin. I therefore initiated the proceedings with the protecting authorities of the Banc, then taken over by Ahmad, to finally end-up at this DxPed long awaited which remained 100% private between three people.

5T5TI operated by Ahmad or Vlad, it is according to the chosen shifts. Vlad is an excellent CW op, also on RTTY and SSB and Ahmad very good op on SSB! The conditions will be with 30 to 90 watts of Pwr with wired slopers all bands from 7 to 28 Mhz, 80m and 6m not certain. 160m has not been considered.

Survival conditions will be very harsh on the spot both for operation as well for resting and meals. So I’ll stay here at 5T0JL in emergency support since there is no other way apart from SatPhone.

Important! It is strongly requested to satisfy yourself with ONE MODE CONTACT in order to please the pushing crowd !!! Many thanks in appreciation for your fair-play and discipline.

December 1, 2016 – Details are still scarce, but the callsign 5T5TI recently appeared on the QRZ.com database with perhaps Vlad UA4WHX and Ahmad 5T2AI about to be active from the rare Tidra Island AF-050.

J’ai eu l’immense plaisir de donner le départ de la route à l’île de TIDRA À nos amis 5T2AI (9K2AI) / Ahmad et UA4HWX / SU9VB / 5T9VB / Wladimir le matin 01 December 2016 vers 1000Z.

Tidra sera d’intérêt pour tous les chasseurs IOTA et est aussi une vieille histoire pour moi car il fait des années, nous avons spéculé ON5GA / Adriano, moi et le Radio Club d’Europe pour monter un DXPed sur les îles comme ils sont quelques-uns dans le passé jamais Ou rarement activé. Le temps passé et la forme physique ont quelque peu empêché notre élan.

C’est alors que Wlodek / SP6EQZ réfléchissait également à ce sujet en janvier 2014, également en mars 2015. Notre ancien ami Phil / G3SWH de 5T0CW a également parlé de Tidra en avril 2015 et aussi de ma présentation à l’ensemble du nouveau type de la ville 5T2AI / Ahmad Qui a trouvé le projet intéressant en compétition avec une expédition à l’Oeil d’Afrique encore en 5T (Tout cela confirmé par les nombreux emails en ma possession).

Alors je ne me souviens pas de quelle manière Ahmad m’a présenté Wladimir / SU9VB qui à son tour semblait s’intéresser au Banc d’Arguin. J’ai donc initié la procédure avec les autorités de protection du Banc, puis reprises par Ahmad, pour finir finalement à ce DxPed longtemps attendu qui restait à 100% privé entre trois personnes

5T5TI opéré par Ahmad ou Vlad, c’est selon les changements choisis. Vlad est un excellent CW op, également sur RTTY et SSB et Ahmad très bonne op sur SSB! Les conditions seront avec 30 à 90 watts de Pwr avec des slopers câblés toutes les bandes de 7 à 28 Mhz, 80m et 6m pas certain. 160m n’a pas été pris en compte.

Les conditions de survie seront très dures sur place aussi bien pour l’opération que pour le repos et les repas. Donc, je vais rester ici à 5T0JL en soutien d’urgence, car il n’ya pas d’autre moyen que SatPhone.

VU2CPL Manoj and VU3NXI Siddhu will be QRV as VU7MS from Kavaratti Island, Lakshadweep from 29 Nov 2016 till 02 Dec 2016.

Operations will be holiday style on 40/20/17/15 m bands on CW & SSB. They will try and be QRV near IOTA frequencies as much as possible and will be operating split always. Only one station will be QRV at a time due to limitations in logistics (only a small aircraft operates to the island and baggage allowance is only 15kg per person.)

They will upload the whole log to Club Log and LoTW once back on mainland. If you need a paper QSL, please use OQRS. Direct requests may be sent to VU2CPL with sufficient postage (3GS) and SAE. Please don’t send IRCs. Any request without postage and SAE will be sent through buro. They will not be using eQSL/QRZ log books.
