{"id":15631,"date":"2021-07-29T03:49:33","date_gmt":"2021-07-29T02:49:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.on4cn.be\/blog_radio\/?p=15631"},"modified":"2021-07-29T03:49:33","modified_gmt":"2021-07-29T02:49:33","slug":"station-sovietique-de-pobeda","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.on4cn.be\/blog_radio\/2021\/07\/29\/station-sovietique-de-pobeda\/","title":{"rendered":"Station sovi\u00e9tique de Pobeda"},"content":{"rendered":"<article class=\"article\">\n<center><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Soviet  Pobeda Station, a jump in the past<\/span><\/strong><\/center><\/p>\n<p><b><time class=\"entry-date published\" datetime=\"2021-07-28T22:27:27+01:00\">28 Luglio 2021<\/time><\/b><\/p>\n<p><strong>Pobeda Station<\/strong>,&nbsp; 64\u00b0 39\u2019 South, 98\u00b0 54\u2019 East was a <strong>temporary Soviet Research Station<\/strong> opened on May 9th 1960 and closed on August 12 of the same year.<br \/>\n &nbsp;The Soviet Antarctic Expedition was part of the Arctic and Antarctic Research Institute of the Soviet Committee on Antarctic Research of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR.<\/p>\n<p><em><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-7665 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/www.waponline.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/Pobeda-241x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"241\" height=\"300\" \/><\/em><br \/>\nThis <strong>&#8220;brief life&#8221; Research site<\/strong>,&nbsp; was&nbsp; very singular!&nbsp; It was set on &nbsp;<strong>Pobeda Ice Island (<\/strong>original Russian name \u201cO\u0441\u0442\u0440\u043e\u0432<br \/>\n\u041f\u043e\u0431\u0435\u0434\u044b\u201d&nbsp; aka Victory Island) in the Mawson Sea, about 160 km off the coast of Queen Mary Land, East Antarctca.<\/p>\n<p>Today, only a watch recalls the name of this <strong>Research Station<\/strong> which was open for only <strong>90 day<\/strong>s on an Ice island, practically an Iceberg!<\/p>\n<p>This &#8220;Island&#8221;, formed by the running aground of a tabular iceberg, exists periodically, &nbsp;then disappears. The so called &#8220;Island&#8221; was 70 km long and 36 km<br \/>\nwide, with an area of 1,500 km<sup>2<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p>The Soviet Expedition came across <strong><em>Pobeda <\/em><\/strong>in 1960 and renamed it as Victory Island to recall the Soviet victory over the Axis powers in the Great Patriotic War.<\/p>\n<p>Pobeda Ice Island &nbsp;disappeared sometime in the 1970s, to be replaced by a new berg that calved in 1985. That one also disappeared in 2003 or 2004. Currently there is no ice island<br \/>\nat this location.<\/p>\n<p>The ice island is created and vanishes periodically. It is created by the&nbsp;calving&nbsp;of an enormous block of ice fromDenman Glacier, located in the eastern part of&nbsp;Shackleton<br \/>\nIce Shelf. The resulting tabular iceberg drifts northwest until it runs aground upon a&nbsp;shoal&nbsp;north of the ice shelf. Celui-ci a \u00e9galement disparu en 2003 ou 2004. Actuellement, il n&rsquo;y a pas d&rsquo;\u00eele de glace<br \/>\n\u00e0 cet endroit.<\/p>\n<p>L&rsquo;\u00eele de glace est cr\u00e9\u00e9e et dispara\u00eet p\u00e9riodiquement. Il est cr\u00e9\u00e9 par le v\u00ealage d&rsquo;un \u00e9norme bloc de glace du glacier Denman, situ\u00e9 dans la partie est de Shackleton<br \/>\n\u00c9tag\u00e8re de glace. L&rsquo;iceberg tabulaire qui en r\u00e9sulte d\u00e9rive vers le nord-ouest jusqu&rsquo;\u00e0 ce qu&rsquo;il s&rsquo;\u00e9choue sur un haut-fond au nord de la banquise.
